The plain house cricket powder contains 65 – 75% protein and tastes mildly like rye bread or a roasted chickpea. With a high content of many high-quality fatty acids but almost no carbohydrates and sugar, cricket powder is ideal as sports food, helping build muscle and lose weight.
Technically our ground-up crickets are not flour but ”floured,” so they will behave differently in baked goods than wheat, coconut, or nut flours. For this reason, use it in conjunction with another flour or flour substitute. Insect flour may adversely affect texture if used in large concentrations, so less is more.
You can add cricket flour in every food to add protein or because it just tastes so good! Try the cricket powder on yogurt, and you want to have it in that way every day!
We stock cricket flour with standard grain size. But you can also buy fine and rough cricket powders from us. However, cricket flours with fine or coarse grain sizes have a longer lead time, and the price has to be negotiated customer by customer.
